Prim primer
So that more avatars can fit on the island, each building has a limit of prims (or basic shapes) that are allowed in it. Here’s a Prim Primer that was left at the doorstep of our library last week.
Hypatia Arcadia and Emerald Dumont have been doing a bit of “prim cleaning” and changed the decor a bit to lower prim versions (the sandcastle was 122 prims….and we have a limit of 274) . If you have put a high prim object in the building, can you please think about whether a lower prim one will be better?
Oh yeah, I’ve asked Walty to take the Little Brown Cat back too.
We thought this might be helpful to those of you moving in
Please contact Lorelei Juneot or Abbey Zenith with any questions.

Moving In a Prim Primer: The quick guide to setting up your area or your library.
=============================
Objects in Second Life are made up of what are known as primitives or prims for short. Each object you see is made up of prims. Sims (areas of SL) have a limit to the number of prims that can be tolerated by a server. This is one of the reasons that Sims are divided up into parcels.
Your parcel will have a prim limit. To find out what your prim limit is, right click on your land, go to About Land and then click on the Objects tab. You will see the number of Primitives Parcel Supports (maximum you can have on your parcel) and below it you will see Primitives On Parcels (what you actually have).
To find out how many prims are in a piece of furniture or object you want to use, right click on the object and go to Edit (if you see a tiny pop up with a button that says More, click it to expand the window). On the General tab about middle way down the pop up window , you should see the number of primitives. It will say something like “1 Object, 5 Primitives”.
Some of the smallest objects on SL can have a high prim count. To learn more about prims and how to make objects you can take one of the classes that Eiseldora Reisman is offering. As always, feel free to contact me or Lori if you need help ![]()
Also, to cut down on lag the Land Manager, Brackish Ludwig has asked that we not use any particle producing objects, except on special occasions.
